Randy Orton Says He Wouldn't Have Achieved His Level Of Success In WWE If It Wasn't For Christian
Randy Orton is not generally perceived as the most humble of guys, but while appearing on Edge & Christian's podcast recently, The Viper thanked the pair - Christian in particular - for helping with his career.
Randy Orton is a multiple-time WWE Champion and a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame once his career winds down. The Viper has gone toe-to-toe with the best the company has to offer over the years, but it turns out he considers one of his less-talked about feuds to be the one that most helped him to refine his talents in the ring and become am all-round better performer.
While appearing as a guest on Edge and Christina's podcast, Orton stated if it wasn't for his 2011 feud with Christian, he "wouldn't be here."
“If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here, That run in 2011 really helped me out in many aspects. Confidence in the ring, everything. Even that period, that late in my career, I still didn’t have the most confidence. I’d be down on myself sometimes. You guys were always good about talking me up.
I appreciate everything you guys have done for me, especially Jay in 2011. You still taught me that, even though I had been in the business so long, that we could slow it down even further. Even though I was putting the majority of the matches together, I was learning from you in those ways, and what we put together here could get a better reaction.”
Orton can come across a little abrasive and, well, arrogant at times so it's nice to see a more humble side to The Viper here.
