Could the next challenger for the Intercontinental title be former multi-time world champion Randy Orton? ‘The Viper’ was successful in defeating his long-time rival Triple H at Super ShowDown, and has now turned his attention to two potential opponents down the line.
The former multi-time world champion responded to WWE questioning who could be the man to step up to Aleister Black, as the former NXT Champion has been cutting promos looking for a new challenger to face, with Orton, Lars Sullivan, Shinsuke Nakamura, Buddy Murphy (who has yet to make his debut for the blue brand), Finn Balor, and Kevin Owens teased as potential opponents as well:
Orton then called out IC champ, Finn Balor, who is coming off a successful title defense against Andrade at Super Showdown:
It's been over 10 years since Orton last held the IC title, as the Smackdown star’s last and only title reign started at Armageddon 2003 and ended at Vengeance 2004. Orton has yet to face Black or Balor in one-on-one competition, which could end up be exciting feuds for ‘The Viper’.
