As we've previously reported, Randy Orton recently shared an Instagram post teasing a move to All Elite Wrestling, while The Viper has also praised the company on a video game stream. Now, the reason for that may have become clear because it turns out his WWE contract is nearing its end.
According to Dave Meltzer, Orton last signed a contract in 2010 but that was a 10-year deal. As a result, the former WWE Champion is expected to be a free agent by as soon as January 2020.
Because Orton signed this contract a decade ago, it doesn't have a clause in it which means it can be extended due to any time taken off for injuries. It's hard to believe he would ever leave WWE and it seems far more likely that he's decided to make headlines like this in order to strengthen his bargaining position with WWE and secure a huge new contract to stop him from heading to AEW.
We'll be sure to keep you updated but it would be pretty interesting seeing him in that company!
