Since signing with WWE a few years ago, we haven't seen a great deal of Mike Kanellis on television. Part of that boils down to some substance abuse issues but he's now recovered from that and has returned to both RAW and 205 Live. In terms of the former, Kanellis has been involved in a bizarre cuckold storyline with his pregnant wife Maria.
Now, though, despite signing a new contract back in June, Mike has asked WWE to release him.
As you can see below, Kanellis wants to start wrestling on a regular basis and while he signed with WWE because he thought it was best for his family, he's clearly regretting that decision. Whether WWE will grant this release is another matter altogether and it's hard to say where this leaves Maria as WWE likely wanted these two as a duo.
It's also possible the company could make him sit his five-year contract out at home! We'll have to wait and see but you can find Kenellis' lengthy statement in the Tweet below:
