Elimination Chamber took place in Saudi Arabia yesterday, and during the men's Chamber match, Seth Rollins Buckle Bombing Austin Theory through WWE Champion Bobby Lashley's pod resulted in him being removed from the bout due to the company's "concussion protocol."
We expected that was a cover to protect Lashley from being pinned and to potentially set up a match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. However, The Ringer Wrestling Show claims The All-Mighty actually needs shoulder surgery and will be out of action for at least four months.
It sounds like Lashley was injured during his match with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, and this would explain why he was so quickly removed from the Chamber.
Interestingly, it appears this change in plans led to The Beast going off-script yesterday. According to PWInsider.com, Lesnar legitimately smashed his way out of his pod to enter the match, choosing to make his presence felt a few minutes sooner than expected. It could be that he was reading the crowd reaction or thought it was a cool spot - it was! - but we'll hopefully learn more soon.
Lesnar would go on to pin every other Superstar in the Chamber, including Rollins, Riddle, AJ Styles, and Theory, and will now face Roman Reigns in a Champion vs. Champion match at WrestleMania.
