After first appearing during
SmackDown's debut on FOX, Cain Velasquez went on to lose his in-ring debut in a brief WWE Championship match with Brock Lesnar at
Crown Jewel. Despite claims that the former UFC star would enter the
Royal Rumble for some revenge (something Velasquez himself promised), that obviously didn't happen and his future is now uncertain.
Now, Rey Mysterio has shared his thoughts on what the future could hold in store for his real-life friend and it sounds like he's confident that Valasquez could wind up being a huge star in WWE.
"We had a couple of opportunities to train down in San Diego where my son trains as well, and he loved it," he says. "He's another guy that I think is gonna shock the world when he takes this on full time. I know he's been away right now for a minute, but once he sets foot back in that ring, he loves that lucha libre style, and he's very agile for his size."
"I think he's gonna be a great one in the ring," Mysterio continued. "I can't wait to see that full transition. Right now, we're just kind of seeing teasers, but once he sets his mind and he wants to do something, he doesn't stop until he accomplishes it."
The last we heard about Velasquez, he was taking some time off to deal with a knee injury and after that swift loss to Lesnar, most fans seem to have forgotten about him! With that in mind, it's hard to say whether he will be a big star in the company but you can hear more from Mysterio below:
