Two weeks ago, The O.C. leader’s title reign finally came to an end thanks to Rey Mysterio, though a little bit of credit should also go to Randy Orton.
Last week, Styles was able to get some revenge, as the RAW superstar won a six-man tag team match that involved Ricochet, Humberto Carrillo, and Rey Mysterio. Following his big win last Monday, Styles skyrocketed himself back into #1 contender’s status.
Mysterio has been on an upswing since his feud with Brock Lesnar. While the United States Champion didn’t win the WWE title, the 44-year-old has had a resurgence in his career after coming very close to retirement earlier this year.
