Ever since he appeared at the Royal Rumble PPV looking in better shape than ever before, wrestling fans have been on the edge of their seats wondering what might be next for Rey Mysterio. We know that he's heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling for a brief stint but rumours about him returning to WWE continue to swirl, with the latest claiming that he'll be working a limited schedule with the company.

During an interview at a 5 Star Wrestling event, Mysterio was asked about a WWE return and it definitely sounds like he's optimistic about returning to the company where he made a name for himself.

"Right now, the conversation is still in the open with WWE so I am hoping that when the time is right and we sit down to talk about the future of Rey Mysterio with WWE, if there is any future with Rey Mysterio, it is going to be good for both parties as much as it will be good for WWE as it will be good for me. I think it is in the best interest for the both of us. Putting that aside, whatever happens there, hopefully we can continue to do business with 5 Star Wrestling [indie Wrestling in general]. I don’t see why not."

Mysterio's comments definitely line up with what we've heard about him wanting to have the freedom to do his own thing outside of WWE but what we still don't know is how he'll fit into the company. Is he going to become part of 205 Live and the Cruiserweight division or can we expect to see him in the main event picture of RAW or SmackDown Live? Let us know what you'd prefer down below.
