Tonight's episode of WWE NXT featured, among many things, a contract signing for Ricky Starks. Referred to as everything but his name over the past week, it seems that was indeed for a reason.
First on tonight's episode, Sarah Schreiber—who referred to him as "Hey you"—was distracted by him walking by while she was interviewing Wes Lee, Tyson DuPont and Tyriek Igwe.
After the commercial break, Ava was in the ring with the contract ready to go, and Starks cut a quick promo about how he plans to main event all the premium live events and truly take over NXT.
The festivities were interrupted by "All Ego" Ethan Page. As a fellow former All Elite Wrestling talent who made the jump over to WWE NXT, Page considered himself the reason why others like Ricky could come into the company. Effectively, he paved the way and thinks that's the same playbook being used by his AEW alum. Starks made fun of his jacket and put over Je'Von Evans, who then attacked Page from behind.
Before Starks could sign the contract after that, though, Wes Lee also decided to come out to say that there are rules around here and that he was upset about how Starks took the attention away from him in the backstage segment. He wants to be the first to "welcome" him in the ring. Lee went for a punch, which Starks blocked, and got sent out of the ring for his efforts.
Starks then signed the contract, and it was shown that his new ring name will actually be Ricky Saints, rather than him going by Ricky Starks.
Later in the show, there was a backstage moment where Ava and Saints were walking and talking until Page and Lee interrupted. Evans also came over, and before a brawl could ensue, officials separated everyone. Ava then spontaneously booked a tag team match.
Next week on NXT, Ricky Saints and Je'Von Evans will face Wes Lee and Ethan Page.
