We have a new United States Champion, and he is the One and Only Ricochet.

The young Superstar was not expected to defeat Samoa Joe for the title at Stomping Grounds, but that's exactly what he did after an impressive back and forth encounter. Joe did impose his physicality for most of the bout, but was never able to properly lock on his Coquina Clutch to put his opponent away.

In the end, Ricochet managed to land on his feet after being turned inside out by a clothesline and followed up by hitting his version of a Codebreaker. Then, he went to the top rope and landed his 630 Senton Splash for the 3-count victory.

This was Ricochet's first title win on the main roster. Hopefully Joe will get a rematch, because they had great chemistry in the ring. In would be nice to see The Samoan Submission Machine move on the the Universal Championship, however.
