Last week, Smackdown Live GM addressed the state of 205 Live and announced that a new General Manager will be appointed for the show. That New GM turned out to be former Impact Wrestler, Rockstar Spud, who’s now going under the name Drake Maverick in the WWE.

Spud left Impact Wrestling back in late 2017 and it was rumored for months that he could debut at any moment in the WWE. As his first act as GM, Maverick addressed the situation regarding the cruiserweight championship. A 16-man tournament will be held and at WrestleMania 34,  the winner will capture the vacant WWE Cruiserweight title. In the first round of matches, former cruiserweight champion TJP defeated Tyler Bate and Cedric Alexander was able to get the win over Gran Metalik.
