We all knew it was coming, and last night on SmackDown we finally saw Roman Reigns fully embrace his new heel persona and drop his cousin Jey Uso with a Superman Punch.
Uso called out Reigns at the start of the show to ask him about that death glare from last week's episode, but Paul Heyman appeared on the screen to inform Jey that The Tribal Chief would respond when he was good and ready. Then, in the final segment, Reigns and Uso stood face to face in the ring and The Big Dog didn't hold back, telling his cuz that he wouldn't know what to do with the title if he handed it to him.
Roman said it was his job to provide for the family, and insinuated that Jey should stick to what he does best: being part of a tag team with his twin. As Reigns was heading to the back, Uso grabbed the mic and cut a passionate promo about constantly having to live in Roman's shadow, and staking his claim to the top seat at the table by winning the Universal Championship.
Jey then followed Reigns and Heyman up the ramp, and was taken down by a running Superman Punch as the Tribal Chief returned to the stage.
This was great stuff, and showed exactly what Reigns is capable of on the mic when he's allowed to speak from the heart. Uso matched him every step of the way, and the entire segment really made us want to see their match this Sunday.
What did you guys think of this and SmackDown overall?
