Roman Reigns has been pushed as a top star in WWE for several years, but it was only really when he returned to the company as a heel alongside Paul Heyman that he seemed to comfortably fill that role. Now, there's no denying that he's earned his moniker as "Head of the Table," but who could step up to take his place if and when the day comes?
"There ain’t nobody," Reigns stated in a recent interview. "I could say my favorite number two, Drew. He’s my favorite number two. There’s a bunch of number two’s, three’s, whatever you want to call it. We can rank them. It really don’t matter. They’re under me. How far under? Who knows? Who really cares? How strong of a number two do you want to be?"
"At this point, my favorite is Drew McIntyre."
Remember, rumours continue to run rampant that McIntyre will win the Money in the Bank briefcase before being moved to SmackDown alongside Reigns in this summer's WWE Draft. That makes sense on a number of levels, and Reigns would go on to praise his old foe (sort of) before making it clear that he has no plans to step aside for the foreseeable future.
"So, in a perfect world, if there was an opportunity to pass the torch to him, he’s the one guy that has captivated my attention in that manner, but at the same time, he ain’t there, and it’s only because I’m still here, so solid within my stronghold. The flag is fully planted in, so I can’t even think about it now, but John needed somebody to come in so he could move on and try new things and take care of his body. I will eventually need that, but there’s just no nobody at this point."
Are you excited to see Reigns and McIntyre cross paths again in the not too distant future?
