CM Punk fans will no doubt recall the "tell all" podcast he did with Colt Cabana shortly after he left WWE. In it, he mentioned an agent telling him to be sure to "make Roman look strong" before a match with The Shield.
While this wasn't a disparaging remark about Reigns himself, it is something many of his most vocal detractors picked up on, and Punk's comments don't seem to have sat very well with the current Universal Champion.
During an interview with Complex Sports, the Tribal Chief was asked how he really feels about the podcast Punk did a few years ago.
"If you’ve watched wrestling for the last 10 – 15 years and it’s in your blood, then you probably have some kind of feelings about that guy. I know I do. Just by doing one of these things, he made my job a lot harder five, ten years ago.”
Despite this, Reigns would be open to having a match with Punk should the opportunity present itself - even though he doesn't seem to care for him on a personal level... at all!
"If it’s something the fans can get behind and sink their teeth into the product and dive into the creative with us, I’m willing to do it. I don’t like the guy, I don’t know many people that do, but I’m willing to put business first and make really good content if that’s the case. He’d probably have to be slapped around a few times in order to get his mind right. But, if the fans are going to like it, most likely I’m going to do it."
Of course, CM Punk returning to WWE is looking less and less likely so we'll probably never get to see this match. Still, it's an undeniably intriguing prospect.
What do you guys make of The Big Dog's comments?
