Yesterday, it was revealed that WWE has partnered up with Progressive for a lucrative advertising deal for Friday Night SmackDown. Now, AdAge has dropped some hints that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will indeed be making an appearance on the premiere episode.

"While many other opening night appearances are being kept under wraps, keep an eye peeled for the trash-talking Goliath who is now the WWE’s most storied alum, as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may very well look to pop in on the 20th anniversary of “SmackDown” and promote his upcoming Disney flick, ‘Jungle Cruise,'" Anthony Crupi from AdAge.com says.

Dave Meltzer has been saying for months that WWE has been trying to get The Rock on Friday Night SmackDown but it all depends on his busy movie schedule.

AdAge certainly sound confident that he will appear, though, and it will now be interesting seeing whether The Great One does indeed make some sort of surprise appearance. Then again, you'd think that this is something WWE and FOX would hype in advance of the show's premiere.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see.
