According to a new report, WWE's production team has started quietly working on video footage for the return of XFL. Vince McMahon's football league only lasted one season back in 2001 but it was the subject of an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary earlier this year and the WWE CEO selling 3.34 million shares of WWE stock to fund "Alpha Entertainment" has led to speculation it's returning.

Now, the plan is said to be for XFL to make its return in 2020 and WWE is hoping it will have a proper foundation put together for the league which will include filling out rosters and coaches.

McMahon is clearly taking the venture seriously but whether or not it will find any success remains to be seen. If he's learned from past mistakes, though, the XFL could be a hit and will ultimately make WWE even bigger as a company (though Alpha Entertainment is a separate entity).
