As we now know, SmackDown LIVE's Daniel Bryan will not be facing AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel, having pulled out of the event and getting his shot at the title this past Tuesday instead.

We had assumed that Daniel decided not to participate in the event after the heinous murder of Jamal Khashoggi, but it turns out there may be more to the story.

According to Wrestling News, Bryan actually made up his mind not to return to Saudi Arabia after his last trip for The Greatest Royal Rumble. Apparently, he was appalled by how women and homosexuals were treated there, as well as the fact that Syrian-Canadian Superstar Sami Zayn was not allowed on the show, which he considered to be blatant racism.

We'll have to take this as a rumor for now, but if true, it sounds like the Khashoggi controversy may simply have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
