Rusev Got The Upper Hand When He Squared Off With AJ Styles During Last Night's SMACKDOWN LIVE

It appears as if the Bulgarian Brute has returned to his villainous ways because AJ Styles' match with Aiden English on last night's SmackDown Live ended with Rusev taking down the WWE Champion...

Rusev will face AJ Styles at Extreme Rules in his first singles match for the WWE Championship. While it sadly seems unlikely that the Bulgarian Brute will emerge victorious, their feud was taken to the next level during last night's SmackDown Live after the Phenomenal One defeated Aiden English. Rusev wasted no time in rushing the ring and locking in the Accolade until Styles passed out.

The Rusev Day gimmick has gotten over with fans in a huge way but Rusev was very much a heel here, so that's indicative of how the feud between the two is going to play out from here.

While it would be a treat to see Rusev become WWE Champion, rumour has it that Styles is destined to clash with Samoa Joe later this summer with the title on the line, so it could be that this bout is a filler for the champion. There's always a chance WWE could surprise us, of course, but this should be a fun match regardless. What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts down below.
