While it looked like it wasn't going to happen for a while, Rusev squared off with The Undertaker at last year's Greatest Royal Rumble in what proved to be a solid match. Chris Jericho was scheduled to face The Deadman at one point but the Bulgarian Brute ended up in the bout and he's now talked about what happened between them backstage after they clashed.
"Taker is such a special character and he’s been here for like 30 years or whatnot," Rusev said. "He’s a legend, he’s an icon, so getting to work with him and talk to him afterwards and pick his brains, it was a great opportunity for me. He told me that I’m really good. I’m not even messing around, he told me I’m really good."
In fairness, Rusev is really good but he's never been given the opportunity to show that (well, not on a stage he deserves anyway). The "Rusev Day" gimmick was him at his hottest but WWE let that fall by the wayside and he's now cooled off. Whether he'll ever receive a main event push at this stage is hard to say but he must feel good knowing he has The Undertaker's seal of approval!
