As we mentioned earlier this week, Rusev is being advertised for a Gauntlet match at Super ShowDown to decide the winner of the "Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy" (named after a region of mountains in Saudi Arabia). However, the Wrestling Observer Radio points out that this doesn't mean things between the Bulgarian Brute and WWE have been resolved.
It's said that Rusev still has "plenty of time" left on his current WWE contract, hence why he could be booked for an upcoming match. It seems like the issue is getting him to sign a new deal with the company (his wife Lana signed a five-year contract last November).
There have been a lot of hints that Rusev isn't happy with the way he's being used by WWE, and so it's not massively surprising that he's been having some issues with the company as they try to convince him to stick around. Chances are he wants some sort of guarantee that he'll be booked better, but if WWE doesn't see him as a top star, that's going to cause problems.
We'll keep you guys updated!
