Sami Zayn Fails To Dethrone Gunther And CM Punk Steps Away In First Two-Hour RAW In 12 Years

Last night's RAW was the first two-hour edition of the show in 12 years and it was a stacked edition which features some big title matches and hints at what's to come for CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and more.

Last night's RAW was two hours, a result of a short-lived deal to keep the show on the USA Network until it moves to Netflix next January. WWE was left to cram a lot into the show, including a main event which saw Sami Zayn challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The company has inadvertently spoiled the result by releasing a Crown Jewel poster featuring Gunther, though it at least made a point of addressing that during RAW by showcasing another with Zayn's face on it.

Regardless, the Austrian prevailed and put Zayn down with a sleeper hold. As the show went off the air, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes showed up for a stare-down with the man he'll face in Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere in the show, CM Punk confirmed he's having to step away for a while following his brutal Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood with Drew McIntyre. However, Seth Rollins made a point of confronting the Second City Saint on his way out!

Xavier Woods failed to defeat Jey Uso for the Intercontinental Championship, with Bron Breakker later taking out both men (and Kofi Kingston) to further cement himself as a heel.

The Miz and R-Truth will go one-on-one next Monday and Sheamus defeated Pete Dunne in a Good Ol' Donnybrook Match.

It was a crowded show and WWE will clearly need to get used to having a two-hour RAW in the coming weeks, especially with so many Superstars to highlight on Monday nights.
