Sami Zayn Interrupts Intercontinental Title Match Between Jeff Hardy And AJ Styles On SMACKDOWN

The Intercontinental Championship match between Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles ended in a no contest after Sami Zayn - who still views himself as the real IC Champion - got involved and forced the DQ.

AJ Styles got a shot at regaining the Intercontinental Championship from Jeff Hardy on SmackDown last night, but the match was thrown out after Sami Zayn got involved and attacked both competitors.

The "Great Liberator" cut a promo before the match, accusing Hardy of being a false champion since Sami never actually lost the title and was forced to relinquish it once the COVID-19 travel restrictions tightened. He was escorted off the stage by Adam Pearce, but returned a few minutes into the bout, running Styles into the steps and taking Hardy out with a Heluva Kick.

Hardy then collapsed while making his way back up the ramp, and was later checked out by doctors. WWE may be going with a concussion angle here so Jeff's not 100% heading into the PPV, but it's not clear.

Though it hasn't been made official yet, expect to see a triple-threat match or the IC title at Clash of Champions.
