Last night, R-Truth once again issued an Open Challenge for the United States Championship on SmackDown Live and Samoa Joe responded. However, so did Rey Mysterio and Andrade and the champion quickly found himself in a Fatal 4-Way match.

It was an exciting bout which saw Zelina Vega take Truth out at ringside before Mysterio hit the 619 and frog splash on Andrade. After breaking up the pin, Joe hit the latter with a
uranage and got the 1-2-3, making him the new United States Champion. This marks his first title win on the main roster and his first championship since 2016.

Based on the promo below, it's easy enough to imagine John Cena returning to challenge Joe at WrestleMania and that would be a fun match, especially now that plans for Lars Sullivan's main roster debut appear to have been put on permanent hold.
