The last time we saw Samoa Joe, a referee stopped his SmackDown Live match with Jeff Hardy due to "injured" he sustained the night before doing battle with AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. Now, it appears as if that may have been a way to write him off television for a while because Dave Meltzer reports in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Joe has been legitimately injured.

There's no word on what the injury might be but WWE only tends to avoid revealing when a Superstar is injured via their website when it's concussion-related (hence why there was no mention of Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss' recent head injuries). While Joe is advertised for this weekend's live event, it's said that a replacement might be needed because, as of right now, he's still not
cleared

Joe isn't booked to appear at Crown Jewel but is expected to attend the WWE's upcoming UK tour. We'll be sure to bring you more information on his status as and when we have it in the coming days.
