WWE has released a video that chronicles the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe and his journey to SummerSlam this weekend, as he’ll take on AJ Styles for the WWE Championship in a match many fans are clamoring for.

During the video, Joe admits when he first met Triple H, The Game told him instantly that he likely would not make it to the WWE main roster.

“Coming into NXT, and actually, once again, [Triple H] being brutally honest with me, you know Jim Ross was brutally honest with me at one point, and Hunter was brutally honest with me,” explained Joe. “And he said, ‘hey, you know, you coming in here, it will be a great help to NXT and you can do your own stuff, and I think we can have a good working relationship. But I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think Vince is looking to put a late 30-something, you know, looking to promote him up to the main roster. That was said within the first few sentences of us meeting.”
