In recent weeks, Seth Rollins has left his fans baffled after pointed remarks aimed at his so-called friend Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley and his decision to compare his bank balance on social media to that of New Japan Pro Wrestling star Will Ospreay (for which he later apologised).
Now, during a media conference call to hype
SummerSlam, Rollins added to that by noting that Ospreay has no idea what WWE Superstars go through because wrestlers like him "don’t do it as much as we do." Rollins added that he would like to have a match with him somewhere down the line, but maintains that WWE offers the best pro wrestling on the planet.
However, things took a weird turn when he was asked about Moxley leaving WWE to join All Elite Wrestling.
"I was surprised by it for sure. I knew Ambrose needed some time away from WWE but the thing is, he just loves wrestling, he loves the industry, he just wanted some freedom and do his own thing and that happens, you know? And that happens for everybody and I understand his position and why he wanted to go over there and that’s on him. But, now he’s competition, now he’s the one trying to take dinner off my table so good on him but we’re going to do our best to continue to be the best here at WWE and those guys want to step up to the big leagues to give it a shot? Then by all means but we’re going to knock them dead just like we do everybody else."
These remarks are totally bizarre and borderline nonsense. No one at All Elite Wrestling seems the least bit concerned about putting WWE out of business because a) they know that's impossible and b) they just want to offer wrestling fans an alternative. Instead, it's WWE who seems worried, hence why they're counterprogramming AEW shows.
Throw in the fact that WWE is offering its Superstars big money contracts and it's hard to see how Moxley or anyone else is trying to take Rollins' dinner!
What do you guys think?
