Heading into last night's RAW, most fans expected Seth Rollins to lose the World Heavyweight Championship. An upset win from Jinder Mahal was one possibility, while a cash-in by Senor Money in the Bank, Damian Priest, seemed even more likely.
WWE went all out to make us think something would happen, including bringing Priest to ringside. Mahal, meanwhile, was accompanied by Indus Sher, a duo that repeatedly helped him cheat throughout the match.
Eventually, Drew McIntyre made his presence felt and dealt with Priest in order to take his revenge for The Judgement Day member's previous interference in his own title match against Rollins a few weeks back. In the chaos, Rollins was hit with the briefcase and it looked like Mahal had the win.
The Visionary ultimately overcame the odds and picked up the 1-2-3 with his patented Stomp. However, Rollins didn't look overly happy in the closing moments of RAW and appeared to be struggling to walk. Since then, we've learned that may have suffered a legitimate leg injury.
He was reportedly able to put some weight on it backstage and was walking under his own accord; however, Rollins was doing so with a limp and is now being assessed to see if it's anything serious.
We haven't had any additional details yet but the fact he could walk bodes well. Rollins previously injured his leg in 2015 and was sidelined for months. If this is a similar situation, then it's safe to assume he'll have to vacate the title and miss WrestleMania.
That would ruin WWE's plans to pit him against CM Punk but, with any luck, we'll get a positive update soon. As of now, Rollins hasn't been booked to defend the World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble PLE and that may allow him some time off to recover.
Needless to say, we'll keep you updated as we learn more. You can check out some highlights from RAW in the X posts below.
