Seth Rollins Will Host Rey Mysterio's Retirement Ceremony Next Week On RAW

We seriously doubt Rey Mysterio is actually hanging up his mask for good, but WWE has announced that Seth Rollins is set to host a retirement ceremony for the legendary luchador next week on Raw...

During last night's episode of Raw, the commentators revealed that next week's episode would feature a retirement ceremony for Rey Mysterio. It was presented as a work, and that was confirmed when it was announced that Seth Rollins would be hosting.

The Monday Night Messiah viciously attacked Rey a couple of weeks back, forcing his eye into the corner of the steel steps. Since then Rollins has been defending his actions by claiming that Mysterio was a necessary sacrifice, giving up his career for the greater good... or something.

Seth's motivations aren't very clear (and may never be), but WWE seems to be doubling down on this maniacal cult leader persona. Last night, Rollins and his disciples threatened to take Humberto Carrillo's eye if Aleister Black didn't back off after their tag-team match. The Dutch Destroyer is now set to face The Messiah on next week's show.

Mysterio has not been confirmed to appear for what will surely turn out to be a piss take ceremony, but this would be a perfect opportunity for Rey Rey to return and get a measure of revenge against the man who almost blinded him.
