Earlier this week, we learned that WWE's Seth Rollins has joined the cast of Captain America: New World Order. The RAW Superstar is expected to play a member of the villainous Serpent Society in the Marvel Studios movie, and will seemingly have a larger role than initially anticipated.
After missing this past Monday's episode of RAW, Rollins will also be absent during next week's show according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
That's because he's shooting the movie, and while we got a pre-taped interview this week, it's unclear what sort of presence he'll have on the Night of Champions go-home show. It's possible he'll appear on SmackDown to confront his opponent AJ Styles, though that could be unlikely following the brand split.
At the PLE in Saudi Arabia, they'll battle it out for the new World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins is the favourite to win after previously being described by insiders as Triple H's "#1 guy" in WWE. He's also incredibly over with fans, something that's been evident from the response he's been receiving in recent months.
As part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the pro wrestler joins the likes of The Rock (Black Adam), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), and John Cena (Peacemaker) to make the leap from the squared circle to the world of superheroes.
Funnily enough, Rollins' wife and fellow WWE Superstar, Becky Lynch, is thought to have shot a role in Eternals which was ultimately scrapped. It's never been revealed who she was playing, though it's been strongly hinted that "The Man" was in an earlier version of the mid-credits scene.
Captain America: New World Order is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024. Night of Champions takes place on May 27, and we'll have more news to share on that event with you soon.
