Well, this was unexpected. With The Miz and Dolph Ziggler set to clash in the finals of the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel, it looked like the old rivals would go to war to decide who was best once and for all. However, when the A-Lister "injured" his leg during a pre-match brawl, the referee decided that Ziggler would be named the winner due to forfeit. Shane McMahon, however, refused!
Deciding that he would take The Miz's place, he got in about five minutes of offense on the tired Ziggler (who had beaten Kurt Angle and Seth Rollins earlier in the night) and hit the coast-to-coast for the 1-2-3. With that, McMahon was named the winner of the World Cup and is now the best in the world as a shocked Baron Corbin watched on from ringside. Even the announcers couldn't believe it.
It's pretty obvious that this is setting something up for Survivor Series but to call it a dumb move on WWE's part would be an understatement and it arguably sums this baffling PPV up pretty perfectly.
