As you may recall, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels recently returned to WWE to set up what appeared to be a feud with Dolph Ziggler. Ultimately, it was Goldberg who squared off with the Showoff at
SummerSlam and the WWE Hall of Famer has now revealed whether there were ever any discussions about a possible return to in-ring competition.
"I never know when the phone call is going to come and I’m going to jump on a plane," Michaels explained. "I was just sort of doing what I was asked to do. If nothing else, with all these years later, after 30 years, I’m a pretty good employee. I just do what I am told, so to speak. It was fun to do but there was absolutely no thought of me and Dolph or anything like that."
"It was always going to be Bill Goldberg," he confirmed, "but perhaps they needed somebody to light the fuse for Dolph Ziggler in that respect and I was the guy to do it as best as I could."
So, there you have it, it was never going to lead to a match. For now, it appears as if Michaels intends to stay retired but you never know when that might change, especially after he came out of retirement for that bout in Saudi Arabia.
