Sheamus defeated Jeff Hardy at Backlash last night. No cheating, no shenanigans - just a Brogue Kick on the outside followed by another in the ring for good measure and the 3-count.
If you've been following this feud you'll no doubt agree that this is a very surprising outcome. The story of the match was that Hardy needed to beat Sheamus to prove that his struggles have all been worth it, and he can finally conquer his demons and put his troubled past behind him. But no... it seems the Celtic Warrior was right all along, and The Charismatic Enigma is just a washed up has-been junkie.
Seriously, that does seem to be the narrative WWE is trying to spin here by having Sheamus go over. We assume this won't be the end of it and Jeff will get another shot at redemption at some point, but has the damage been done?
