Sheamus Takes Out Jeff Hardy On SMACKDOWN As Their BACKLASH Match Is Made Official

Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus is now official for next week's Backlash pay-per-view, and the Celtic Warrior gained a big advantage this week on SmackDown when he took The Charismatic Enigma out with a Brogue Kick.

WWE's decision to bring Jeff Hardy's real-life substance abuse issues into a storyline has been met with a lot of push-back, but they doubled-down this week with yet another segment involving Sheamus berating the former WWE Champion for being a "junkie."

Hardy opened the show to address his arrest and eventual release last week, revealing that eyewitnesses saw a man with “red hair and red beard” running away from the scene of the accident. The Celtic Warrior then made his way to the stage, calling those witnesses enablers, and telling Hardy not to worry that his wife and child will be disappointed in him for falling off the wagon... they're used to it.

As we know, mentioning someone's family is the final straw in any wrestling feud, and Jeff immediately charged up the ramp only to be met with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus then repeatedly threw him into the Plexiglas barricades.

Afterwards, it was announced that both Superstars will go one-on-one at the Backlash PPV next Sunday
