For many of us it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that John Cena would challenge Jider Mahal for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam this month, but as it turns out, the company is still capable of surprising us now and again.

Earlier on, we reported that Shinsuke Nakamura was actually expected to go over in tonight's Smackdown Live #1 contender match against Cena, and that exactly what happened. No outside interference, no controversial referee decisions, no shenanigans whatsoever - Nak pinned Cena clean in the middle of the ring after hitting his devastating Kinshasa knee-strike.

Oh, and just before that he dropped poor John-boy right on his neck after a botched inverted suplex. Cena seemed okay afterwards, but man it looked nasty.

So there we have it: Nakamura VS. Mahal for the title at SummerSlam. Do you think the King of Strong Style has a chance at victory? Sound off below.
