Shinsuke Nakamura lost the NXT Championship to Bobby Roode at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio, and while it's likely that the King of Strong Style will attempt to regain it in Orlando, it's also believed that he'll be on the main roster sooner rather than later. With so many big names on RAW, SmackDown Live seems like the obvious destination and Nakamura has a good reason for wanting to head there!
Reflecting on his past year in NXT, Nakamura weighed in on the possibility of making it to WrestleMania, and he knows exactly who he wants to face; former WWE World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles!
"If the [WrestleMania] opportunity presented itself, I want to do it," he revealed. "AJ doesn’t have an opponent yet, and I’d like to fill that spot. I’ve achieved a lot this year, but there’s much more to do. I want to make more strides over the next year and show my true ability." On next week's SmackDown Live, Styles will battle Luke Harper for the chance to take on Bray Wyatt at the Showcase of the Immortals, but rumour has it that he'll actually end up battling Commissioner Shane McMahon.
Despite that, seeing the two clash at WrestleMania would be a real dream come true, especially after their legendary bout at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Chances are it won't happen, but one thing's for sure and that's that Nakamura will be on the main roster at some point in 2017.
