The latest edition of SmackDown Live for April 23, 2019 took place at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, NE.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who may have missed it:
— Shane McMahon started the show with a promo on Roman Reigns and how he should be fired for punching Vince McMahon last week. After Reigns came out, Elias jumped him, and with Shane's help, the two heels beat down Reigns.
— Finn Balor defeated Andrade
— Kairi Sane defeated Peyton Royce
— Aleister Black tried to explain "the complexity of [his] tragic character" in a video segment.
— Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers (who are now on SmackDown Live) didn't have their scheduled match with Chad Gable because Lars Sullivan came out and attacked all of them. R-Truth then tried to take the fight to Sullivan and failed as well.
— Charlotte Flair tried to demand a rematch for the SmackDown Women's Championship. Becky Lynch called her out on having beaten her multiple times and how Flair should step aside for new challengers to go to the front of the line. Bayley came out to put her name in the discussion.
— Charlotte Flair defeated Bayley and will face Becky Lynch for the title now.
— Kofi Kingston defeated Shinsuke Nakamura by DQ after Rusev interfered. Then, in the post-match brawl, Kevin Owens turned on Kingston and Xavier Woods.
