The latest edition of SmackDown Live for August 27, 2019 took place at the Raising Cane's River Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— After some recap and promo material, Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton fought backstage with The Viper coming out on top of the battle. Big E threatened to get back at Orton, which set up a match for the two later in the night. Orton defeated Big E by pinfall.

— Ali defeated Buddy Murphy by pinfall to advance to the quarterfinals of the King of the Ring tournament

— After The Miz challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship, Sami Zayn came to the ring and helped Nakamura attack The Miz and lay him out.

— Bayley defeated Lacey Evans by pinfall.

— Following a stunner from Kevin Owens, Elias lost the 24/7 Championship to Drake Maverick.

— Chad Gable defeated Shelton Benjamin by pinfall to advance to the quarterfinals of the King of the Ring tournament

— Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan demanded an apology from Roman Reigns about the attack situation. Reigns showed footage proving that Rowan was responsible. Bryan tried to say that Rowan lied to him, but Reigns speared Bryan to end the night.
