The latest edition of SmackDown Live for August 7, 2018 took place at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL.
Here is a recap of the highlights from this episode for those who may have missed it:
— Randy Orton kicks off the show with a promo about how he doesn't get the respect he deserves and how he'll erase every superstar the WWE Universe chooses to believe in, starting with Jeff Hardy.
— Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch defeated The IIconics by submission. Before and after the match, they talked out their feelings about the Triple Threat match at SummerSlam and are on the same page about wanting to win, but not wanting it to get in the way of their friendship.
— The Miz says that he is now accepting Daniel Bryan's challenge for SummerSlam.
— AJ Styles cuts a promo on how Samoa Joe has made this feud personal and at SummerSlam, he's not walking out as the champion and he'll be lucky to walk out at all.
— Backstage, Aiden English apologizes to Rusev and Lana, who accept his apology, but tell him to stay back and not come out for the match between Lana and Zelina Vega. Once again, English comes out to try to help and creates a mess, leading to Zelina Vega defeating Lana by pinfall
— R-Truth interrupts an interview between Renee Young and Shinsuke Nakamura to say that he wants a United States Championship match and he'll earn it by doing the same thing everyone else does: pinning Carmella.
— The Miz is interviewed by Byron Saxton. The Miz talks some trash about Daniel Bryan and plugs Miz and Mrs, before Bryan shows up and jumps him. The Miz ends up hightailing it after smashing a vase over Bryan's head.
— Shinsuke Nakamura defeated R-Truth by pinfall.
— The Bludgeon Brothers defeated 3SK (Alechi Lee, Julio Rivera and Pavel Koslov) by pinfall.
— The New Day defeated The Bar by pinfall to earn a title shot for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam.
