The latest edition of SmackDown Live for January 8, 2019 took place at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who may have missed it:
— Daniel Bryan starts off the show by condeming everyone at the arena for their choice of food and the merchandise stand and everyone who cheers for AJ Styles to fill a void in their empty lives. Eventually, Bryan is attacked by R-Truth.
— Daniel Bryan defeated R-Truth by pinfall. After the match, Bryan is jumped by AJ Styles on the ramp.
— Andrade "Cien" Almas and Samoa Joe defeated Rey Mysterio and Mustafa Ali by pinfall
— Rusev promises to break every bone in Shinsuke Nakamura's body after what happened with Lana last week. Nakamura is in the production truck, though. He shows footage of the incident and puts the blame squarely on Rusev. Rusev goes to find him and Nakamura attacks him backstage.
— The Bar defeated The Usos by pinfall due to a distraction from Mandy Rose. After the match, The Miz comes out and issues a challenge to The Bar to fight himself and Shane McMahon. Sheamus lays him out with a Brogue Kick and they accept.
— Naomi attacks Mandy Rose (and Sonya Deville) backstage until Jimmy Uso breaks up the fight.
— Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair and Carmella to earn a title shot at the Royal Rumble for Asuka's SmackDown Women's Championship
