The latest edition of SmackDown Live for July 23, 2019 took place at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:
— Shane McMahon started the show with a promo about his upcoming match against Kevin Owens at SummerSlam. He then booked a match for later in the night between Owens and Roman Reigns with himself as the special guest announcer, Elias as timekeeper and Drew McIntyre as the referee.
— Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Apollo Crews by pinfall.
— Dolph Ziggler interrupted a MizTV segment with Shawn Michaels to talk about how Michaels is an embarrassment. Things got heated and Ziggler hit Michaels with a superkick.
— Ember Moon defeated Charlotte Flair by pinfall. Later in the night, Flair complained that she should be the one facing Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship, so she promised she will be at SummerSlam and her opponent will be better than Ember Moon.
— Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton aired their problems with each other about Orton holding Kingston back from the main event even back in 2009 with their previous feud. They will fight for the title at SummerSlam.
— Kofi Kingston defeated Samoa Joe by disqualification after Orton got involved, attempting to hit Kingston with an RKO. Orton then gave an RKO to Joe, before being hit by a Trouble in Paradise from Kingston.
— Finn Balor challenged Bray Wyatt to a match at SummerSlam.
— Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns broke down into a fight between those two and Elias, McMahon and McIntyre with the babyfaces standing tall.
