The latest edition of SmackDown Live for July 9, 2019 took place at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:
— The show starts with footage from earlier in the day, when Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens fought each other in the parking lot and Shane McMahon sent Owens home. In the opening of SmackDown, Owens interrupted to complain about McMahon and how he's taking time away from more deserving wrestlers like Buddy Murphy, Ali, Kairi Sane, Asuka and so on, and insulting everyone in the back by calling himself the Best in the World, and nobody wants to see him. McMahon ordered the crew to cut Owens' mic, and each time he grabbed a new one, it was cut off, so Owens left.
— In a non-title match, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated intercontinental champion Finn Balor by pinfall.
— Bayley and Nikki Cross had a contract signing for the Extreme Rules match. Cross said that Alexa Bliss told her when they beat Bayley, they'll be co-champions together. Then, Nikki Cross defeated Carmella by pinfall.
— In a backstage segment, Paige and The Kabuki Warriors let The IIconics know that they can't avoid them forever, and their title match is still coming.
— Daniel Bryan and Rowan, Heavy Machinery, and The New Day had their "SmackDown Tag Team Championship Summit", which was just a promo back-and-forth about how each team plans to win at Extreme Rules. After that, Otis defeated Xavier Woods and Daniel Bryan in a Triple Threat match by pinning Woods.
— Cesaro was revealed to be Aleister Black's opponent for Extreme Rules.
— Roman Reigns defeated Dolph Ziggler by pinfall. Kevin Owens hit Shane McMahon with a Stunner during the chaos.
