James Ellsworth first appeared in WWE as one of Braun Strowman's opponents shortly after the Draft when the Monster Among Men was destroying jobbers on a weekly basis. However, after gaining a cult following, he quickly returned to the company before making sporadic appearances on SmackDown Live and being signed to a contract. Unfortunately, that's now come to an end.
"WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar James Ellsworth," the company said today. "WWE wishes Ellsworth the best in all of his future endeavors."
Interest in Ellsworth started plummeting when he became involved in the feud between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose and pairing him up with Carmella always felt like something of an odd decision. The women's locker room beating him down in Manchester felt like it may have been the end of the road for him and that's obviously the case. He'll no doubt make a killing on the indie scene, though!
