Unfortunately, The USO's return has been cut short as Jimmy reportedly suffered a serious knee injury that will cause him to be out of action for the time being, according to Ringside News. The report states the he will need surgery.
The article doesn’t exactly pinpoint when Jimmy was injured; however, the Smackdown star last competed in the Triple Threat ladder match at WrestleMania 36 involving John Morrison and Kofi Kingston. Jey Uso faced off against Big E. and The Miz for the Tag Team belts on the following episode of Smackdown, but it was never mentioned that Jimmy was injured.
Since then, both brothers have been off of television and won’t be competing in the upcoming four-way match for the Smackdown Tag Team titles at Money in the Bank. During the build to WrestleMania 36, it appeared that the company was teasing a future program between The USOs and The Miz and John Morrison, as the brothers defeated the then champions in a non-title match-up.
Jimmy and Jey made their returns back in January after a long hiatus from the promotion in late 2019. Before moving back into the Tag Team title picture, the Smackdown duo aided Roman Reigns in his feud against King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Bobby Roode. While it’s possible for Jey to compete on the blue brand, most likely, officials will keep him off of television until his brother is healed and ready to go. This is just pure speculation.
