In recent years, WrestleMania has become a show that's often upwards of six hours long, but watching the Show of Shows take place in the WWE Performance Center over such a long period of time definitely isn't an overly exciting prospect. Now, it appears as if WWE agrees.
During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that WWE officials feel that a show full of matches doesn't work in an empty building. "They felt from the SmackDown show that this empty arena match stuff doesn’t work," he confirmed.
"They had 16 matches lined up. I don’t know if they will even do 16 matches at this point," Meltzer continued. "There may not even be a WrestleMania on April 5th either. They announced that but [if] one guy on that roster getting the virus or one major celebrity getting in in Florida or an outbreak in Florida, then it’s not happening."
If nothing else, Battle Royals taking place is highly unlikely because there would be so many Superstars in the ring at the same time. At this point, the better solution would probably be a shorter show with the marquee matches rather than one that's so long, WrestleMania just stops being fun to watch!
