WWE really dropped the ball by not making Sonya Deville a serious opponent for Ronda Rousey when she was in WWE, especially as they both have a background in the world of MMA. Still, the Baddest Woman on the Planet is now M.I.A., and Shayna Baszler is currently a big part of RAW. Deville, meanwhile, is currently one of the biggest rising stars on SmackDown.
When we had the chance to talk to Sonya about her Batwoman aspirations recently, we asked whether a fight with Baszler is something she believes could make up for the match with Rousey which never ended up happening.
"I think there's so many women who I've yet to face in matches on TV I would have great chemistry with," she started. "Me and Shayna could do things in the ring no other women could possibly do together. I think the same goes for me and Asuka. We've always had good matches at live events and down in NXT, but no one has ever really seen it on TV, so I would love to have an extended series with her."
"Becky, who is obviously not here right now, but when she comes back, I would love to fight her...if she comes back. There are tonnes of women I'm looking to beat up, but Shayna's definitely one of them!"
Those are fighting words, and while they're on different brands right now, you have to hope they cross paths somewhere down the line. Survivor Series would be a good choice if they're both champions by then...
