With 2022 winding down, the Road to WrestleMania is fast approaching. The Royal Rumble takes place next month, and with Cody Rhodes' return seemingly imminent, there's a lot of intrigue surrounding what we'll see at the Showcase of the Immortals.
One popular theory right now is Roman Reigns will end up defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against The Rock on Night 1 of WrestleMania with the winner facing Rhodes on Night 2. We'll see what happens on that front, but WrestlingNews.co is reporting that the Head of the Table will defend the title against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble.
While Sheamus was considered for that match at one point, the focus has instead shifted to KO. Why? Because the idea is for him and Sami Zayn to eventually reunite and challenge the Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania.
While there had been talk of Zayn facing Reigns at the show, it appears that's been pushed to February's Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event due to that taking place in his hometown of Montreal, Quebec.
As for Ronda Rousey, fresh off her successful SmackDown Women's Championship defence against Shotzi Blackheart at Survivor Series: WarGames, the stage is being set for Raquel Rodriguez to face the Baddest Woman on the Planet at the Royal Rumble.
It's unclear where things will go beyond that, though neither Reigns nor Rousey is expected to lose their respective titles before WrestleMania takes place. We have a feeling "The Man" Becky Lynch might end up taking aim at Ronda, though.
We're in for an exciting few months as WWE continues to evolve under Triple H's leadership, and this will mark the first WrestleMania without Vince McMahon calling the shots following his shock departure from the company earlier this year. While some of his plans may carry over, we're guessing The Game will want to put his own stamp on the Show of Shows.
