Three adjustments were made to the WWE SummerSlam 2025 lineup as a result of the July 18, 2025 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

First up, Charlotte Flair informed Alexa Bliss (in a backstage segment) that she had talked to Raw General Manager Adam Pearce—who was on hand filling in for SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis—before the show had started and was able to convince him to book those two against The Judgment Day for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam.

Reiterating that they aren't friends, these "allies of convenience" were side-by-side as Flair beat Raquel Rodriguez tonight. Next week, Bliss will be in action against the other half of the women's tag team champs, Roxanne Perez.

Even before that went down, the start of the episode was an incident backstage where Solo Sikoa and his MFTs (Talla Tonga, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo) had been involved in some kind of car accident.

As the prime suspect, Jacob Fatu was taken in by police for questioning:

However, it turned out that Sikoa had framed the whole situation just to make Fatu look bad, and the police were able to exonerate Fatu.

Fatu went on the attack alongside Jimmy Uso, and Adam Pearce then came out to announce that not only would Sikoa have to defend his United States title against Fatu at SummerSlam, but that it would be inside a steel cage.

Sikoa was then taken away by the police for framing this whole situation, being locked up before he'll be locked up at SummerSlam with The Samoan Werewolf.

In the main event of the night, Cody Rhodes and John Cena had a contract signing, where Cena said he couldn't sign the paper as he is just too exhausted and unable to compete at SummerSlam. He offered postponing the match for Clash in Paris or Crown Jewel, but Rhodes wasn't having it.

The American Nightmare attacked Cena, hit him with the title belt, put him through a table and forced him to sign the contract, before revealing that this is actually going to be a street fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship instead of a regular singles match.

As it stands right now, this is the current updated lineup for WWE SummerSlam 2025:

  • Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
  • Singles Match for the WWE Women's Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
  • Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul
  • Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk
  • Triple Threat Match for the Women's World Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky
  • Singles Match for the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria
  • Tag Team Match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship: The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez) (c) vs. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair
  • Steel Cage Match for the WWE United States Championship: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
