Fans were wondering why we didn't see the usual Raw Underground spot on last night's episode of the red brand, and the reason may now have come to light.
According to Fightful Select, the recent surge in COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases in WWE is to blame for the powers that be deciding not to run the Fight Club-style segment. Raw Underground is usually pre-taped, but because they didn't have an episode ready to air this week and were already short on talent thanks to the bastard virus, the decision was made to skip the segment altogether.
Underground has come in for a lot of flak since it debuted a couple of months ago, but the concept does have potential and there have been a few entertaining fights. Most recently, Braun Strowman pretty much squashed the then undefeated Dabba-Kato with a quick one-two knockout, and fans were curious to see if the powerful up-and-comer would lay down a rematch challenge.
Unfortunately, we may be waiting a while to find out, because Raw Underground will most likely be deemed unnecessary if WWE is forced to cut spots moving forward. Kato vs. Kevin Owens was also teased, however, and that may happen in the ring during the main show at some point.
