As seen on SmackDown Live, Randy Orton took some shots at independent wrestling saying that he wasn’t an "indie darling that competed in run-down bingo halls," adding that he "didn't steal some sweet hand gesture either."
The promo was indeed set to rile up smark wrestling fans (and tear down indie wrestling at the same time) as Orton has had made it known in the past that he isn’t all too high on independent wrestling.
A Twitter user asked Cody Rhodes to blast Orton for the promo, but Cody actually commended “The Viper” for helping him throughout his wrestling career in his response, as seen below:
