Backlash was originally marked in WWE's calendar for June 16th but the PPV has now been pulled from the company's schedule.
According to Dave Meltzer, the decision boils down to the fact WWE is returning to Saudi Arabia on June 7th and they simply don't want to run two big events in such close proximity. That makes sense but there's also talk within the company that holding a show called "Backlash" after heading to the controversial country could be a PR nightmare, especially after Crown Jewel.
Needless to say, that won't make disappointed fans in San Diego feel any better about the news. As of now, WWE has live events scheduled or 6/7 in Salt Lake City, 6/8 in Denver and Boise and 6/9 in Oakland and Fresno.
A TakeOver special is expected to take place on 6/8 but it's unclear what, if any, changes this news will have on that. Stay tuned.
